New indoor activities

     O

We got a new memory game featuring Pete the cat.

We used our memory and observation skills to make matches. Many of us were eager
      to have a turn.

Our water table had these really cool plastic beads in it. We used spoons, cups and small
dishes to measure, pour and experiment. It was fun to watch the beads pour out of the funnel.
We tried filling the cups by catching the beads as they came out of the bottom of the funnel.

The farm was put away and instead we had the train to work with.

We all worked together to make the most awesome track ever!!

These blocks were made from branches that were cut into different lengths. They are
much harder to balance than our regular blocks.

In French we have been talking about ways we can move in winter? We have been singing
songs about skating and sledding very quickly.

                  Ein ein ein en patin
                  Comma ça va vite
                  Comme ça va vite
                  Ein ein ein en patin
Comme ça va vite en patin.

                                                  Oh oh oh en traineau
                                                  Comme ça va vite
                                                  Comme ça va vite
                                                  Oh oh oh en traineau
Comme ça va vite en traineau.

A is for animals

Our guide Bonnie took us to a classroom to show us the animals that live at the zoo.
We looked at the screen to see what they looked like and she passed cool objects for us to feel.
Can you guess what skull this is from?
Camels have a huge head with big eye sockets. They have three eyelids to help keep out the sand.
One of the children asked why our zoo has camels since they live in the desert. Bonnie said camels live in cold weather climates all over the world. We were glad he asked!
A Stellar jay nest with egg shells left behind.
Tortoise shells are hard and they have backbones like we do.
When she flipped over the shell we could see its vertebrae.
We also had a chance to hop around like a frog.
Walking through a child-sized door was a great fit for us. Next it was time to head off to Toucan Ridge.
We enjoyed a break in the warm humid building.
What a nice way to spend a cold winter's day.

Fun with friends

The castle blocks are always a favorite activity. We need to make sure all our friends have
enough blocks and people to carry out their plans. Sometimes we work together to make
   a gigantic castle.

New sand toys had us making yummy cupcakes.

There are so many possibilities when using the blocks and our friends ideas for inspiration.

                                                   Mains en haut
                                                   Mains en bas
                                                   Mains en haut
                                                  Derrière le dos.

                                                          Thursday
We made a ginormous track using the long blocks

A lot of thought goes into making the perfect castle and selecting the right knights to
     battle the ferocious dragon.

Using fine motor skills to make a necklace
.

Finger painting is a fun activity. We make new colors
when we mix the paint. Some of us made handprints.
Some of us mushed all the colors together to make a
design and we all enjoyed the feel of the paint on our
hands.

Manitoba Merv says, "Only six weeks left of winter!"

On our first school day in Feb the playground was soooo icy we slipped and slid all over.

Hanging out in the hideout.

We were able to slide. Super far!!!!l

After snack we got down to the business of serious play.

                                                            THURSDAY
After playing in the snow for a long time we came in and co-operated while making puzzles

We ended our day with our favorite music teacher Miss Sonja.
